Every group gets into autobiography mode at least once - and this is ours.
CAP 5101 was the registration number of Mrinal's beat-up old car. That's the
"old green car" mentioned in the song. It was our band-wagon, the
"Phenomobile", so to say. She faithfully took us to our gigs, parties and
other diverse destinations, and just as faithfully broke down when it rained
the hardest, and when we were far away from anywhere. But we could rely on
her to work as expected (including the breakdowns).
But the song isn't about the car - it's about us.
While in college, we would particpate in every rock competition we could get
our names into, often travelling to other cities, hoping that this time we
would crack it. In the first year, we didn't win anything, but we kept going
- after all, the journey was a reward in itself, and we were certainly
having fun! "Not for the money and not for the pride"
Throughout this period, there were the uncertainities of our own lives -
college, exams, music, the future. Heck - girls! :)
But in the end, it was all worth it. We had a ball, we had fun, we started
winning, and we cut a CD. How many college bands can say that for
themselves?
It was recorded at Purple Beast Studios, as was the rest of our album.
Our sound engineer was Dharmendra "DC" Chakrasali, and if you think the
recording quality and mix sound great, you know whom we have to thank!
If you have any comments, please let us know, we'd
love to hear from you!
We hope you enjoy "CAP 5101"!
